From Dollar Tree to Home Depot, there are endless aisles of solutions formulated to help you clean your resurfaced bathroom. There’s something for everything– brightening fixtures, removing stubborn stains, disinfecting surfaces… the list goes on.
Avoid bleach-based products
Ever notice a yellow tint in your tub? Using bleach or bleach-based products to clean your bathtub will denature the finish and leave a yellow hue to the gloss. This is especially important to remember for refinished surfaces. Products like Scrubbing Bubbles, Fabuloso, Pine Sol or even dishwashing liquid will have the same cleansing effect without damaging the coating on your tub. Fabuloso is our personal favorite- it’s a multi-purpose cleaner that comes in a variety of scents (they even have a bleach alternative!) and you can find it almost anywhere.
Protect the surface of your tub by using a super-soft sponge or cloth to clean it. Microfiber cloths are a preferred choice, as they gently spread the cleaning solution over the surface of the tub without scratching the finish. The tiny fibers grab and hold more dirt than a sponge or other type of cloth, so you don’t have to spend so much time scrubbing.
We know what you’re thinking- safety first, right? Well, it turns out that your bath mat can actually do more harm than good, especially on a resurfaced tub. The suction cups that keep the mat in place cling to and eventually strip off the tub’s finish, ruining the smooth, glossy coating and making it harder to keep that shiny new look. The good news is, our resurfacing process includes a non-slip finish in the bottom of your tub so that you don’t have to worry about the safety of the surface.
Whether your tub is in its original condition or if it’s been resurfaced, it’s important to use the right cleaning supplies. These quick tips will help you keep the shine in your bathtub and make the cleaning process simpler.
